History Book on Sale:

Heroes Past and Present – A History of Gaelic Games in Kinsale 1886 – 2016
When this book was launched back in November 2016 to say people were hugely impressed was an understatement – everyone is in awe of this impressive book that was produced by our History Committee!
They took on this task knowing the huge amount of work and commitment that would be required. Not only is it an extremely informative book on Kinsale GAA, but also includes some stories on our Kinsale Community in general. It is a beautiful and striking book, with fantastic photos galore adorning it’s glossy white pages. A book for everyone – young and old.
You don’t have to be ‘into GAA’ to appreciate and enjoy it - everyone will recognise somebody in the photos!!
The book is also available from Kinsale Book Shop, Centra, Laurence in Maurice Murphy’s Shop and any of the committee members.

The next Club Development Draw will also take place at the Open Registration Day on Saturday. The Tickets will be drawn at 1pm / 1.30pm approx. – so fingers crossed if you have a ticket in this draw – you might be having an even better weekend!!

St Patricks Day Parade:
The 17th of March is fast approaching so it’s time to get those ‘thinking caps’ on and come up with a great idea for a costume and walk with your Local GAA Club.
Our Theme this year is “Kinsale GAA – Big History, Big Future”
On our Float we will celebrate 6 Kinsale GAAs legends – historic and present day!
For Adults and Children!! Its all about having the craic!! Why not get dressed up as a player from the past – it can be a past player of Kinsale GAA – or for example, the great Christy Ring would be most welcome on the day!
Or what about going back even further…. Back to the days when men would play with their Tweed Caps (or Quiet Man Caps / Grandad Caps as some people might call them), braces and a waistcoat, long or short pants! Or when Ladies played Gaelic Football and Camogie in Full Skirts down to their Ankles and high neck, long sleeved blouses!!
Or just come dressed up in GAA gear of the past – time to pull out the Esat Digiphone Cork Jersey !!!
There are plenty of Present Heros to dress up as – we are sure to see a few of our very own Local Hero, All-Star and multiple All-Ireland winner Orla Finn on the day!
There are loads of options – so come join Kinsale GAA on St Patricks Day as we celebrate our amazing past and our bright future!
With the clubs History Book being produced last year detailing fabulous stories, match reports, some amazing photos and lots lots more from as far back as 1886 it is hugely important that we honour our clubs extraordinary past both on and off the pitch and the remarkable people involved with Kinsale GAA along the way over many many years, by making our History a central feature in our St Patricks Day Theme this year.
With the staggering success of our exceptional Munster Champions Junior Ladies Football Team in 2016 (now Intermediate in 2017) and with a lot of our teams in both Girls/Ladies Football and Boys/Mens Hurling & Football reaching semi-finals and finals in their individual grades in 2016 the future looks exceptionally bright and brilliant for Kinsale GAA. And not forgetting our new Camogie Club (now heading into its 3rd season) established in November 2014 – we now have teams at all ages from U6 up to U14 including a new Junior Ladies Team.
The club had a phenomenal surge in registrations in 2016 particularly in our Under 6 age group with over 100 future stars joining Kinsale GAA (inclusive of Boys H&F, Girls FB, Girls Cam) and with the entire Membership base now standing at 1000 members (inclusive of children and adults), Kinsale GAA certainly has a strong and Big Future to look forward to.
Important - Note for Parents:
Once Kinsale GAA have passed the Band Stand at the end of the route (usually down around Vista/Yacht Club) we will be directed by the stewards towards the Pier – we will gather there somewhere near the Harbour Master Office – you can collect your child/children as soon as Kinsale GAA are finished in the parade. (not when parade is completely over pleaseeeeee!).
Help with Stewarding required for Parade:
The St Patricks Day Parade Committee have asked Kinsale GAA if they could help with the Stewarding this year along the route of the parade and in other locations. It would be great if we could help them out with this job – you’ll get a birds eye view of the parade!!!!!
If you can help on the day can you text Laurence Murphy on 087-9056737 or Aine Ryan-O’Brien 087-9244613 to confirm. Thank you!
